Woman convicted of plotting to kill Treasury Secretary Bessent receives 6-year sentence
A Massachusetts woman was sentenced to over six years in prison for bringing homemade firebombs to the U.S. Capitol with the intent to kill Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. She claimed her actions were driven by a mental health crisis and drug abuse, and she had planned the attack for at least a month. Nobody was harmed, and the weapons she carried were deemed incapable of ignition; her plan was considered highly unlikely to succeed.
