Chino Valley Under Book Ban Review
The Chino Valley Unified School District faces legal challenges over its policies on book removals and parental notification related to LGBTQ+ and gender identity issues. A complaint alleges these policies unlawfully target LGBTQ+ content, bypass public hearings, and violate state laws, which resulted in books with LGBTQ+ themes and sexual content being removed. Meanwhile, efforts to reinstate a parental notification policy for gender identity are paused by court rulings, with ongoing legal disputes surrounding students' privacy rights and parental involvement.
