Officer Accuses LAPD of Ruining Life
LAPD officer Daniel Flores publicly addressed the case involving charges against him for secretly recording colleagues making racist, sexist, and homophobic remarks. Initially charged with 16 felonies under state eavesdropping laws, the district attorney downgraded these to misdemeanors after scrutiny and a diversion agreement. Flores had previously reported misconduct through internal channels and faced retaliation, with allegations that the prosecution was linked to his whistleblower lawsuit. He maintains that his recordings, made over several months, were intended to expose departmental misconduct and that his actions complied with California law.
