DOJ sues Franklin County Court over ICE rules
The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Franklin County Municipal Court and Judge Jessica D'Varga over a court rule that restricts immigration agents from making arrests on courthouse grounds. The DOJ claims the rule violates the U.S. Constitution's Supremacy Clause by impeding federal immigration enforcement, which is a federal jurisdiction. The lawsuit seeks to invalidate the rule and allow federal agents to conduct immigration arrests freely at the courthouse.
