Iran and Oman plan temporary Hormuz lane
Iran and Oman proposed establishing a temporary shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, which would involve closing a UN-authorized channel they oppose. This move follows ongoing negotiations to facilitate navigation and clear mines, amid increased US sanctions targeting Iran’s economy, including restrictions on oil, finance, and technology. The US has warned ships to avoid Iranian-controlled waters, while Iran and Oman aim to reach a long-term agreement on Strait management amidst regional tensions.
