Ohio State Rejects Wexner Renaming Request
Ohio State University has decided not to rename the Thompson Library despite a request from Citizen Advocates for Public Education, which aimed to remove William Oxley Thompson's name due to his alleged support of racial segregation. The university’s review concluded that there was insufficient evidence to justify changing the name, despite historical records indicating segregation practices during Thompson’s tenure. The university continues to consider other naming change requests, including those related to Les Wexner, with a resolution expected later this year.
