Pennsylvania reports fifth measles death
Pennsylvania reported its fifth measles-related death, the first in 35 years, involving an unvaccinated individual from Lancaster County during a year that has seen the highest U.S. measles deaths since 1991. The state's outbreak has resulted in 943 cases across 39 counties, with recent declines in vaccination rates contributing to the surge. International health officials will meet to assess if the U.S. has lost its measles-free status due to ongoing outbreaks and increasing infections.
