US employment growth slows in September
The US jobs market experienced a significant slowdown in September, adding only 29,000 jobs compared to 133,000 in August, with the unemployment rate rising slightly to 4.2%. Employment remained stable across major sectors, reflecting a cooling economy that reduces the likelihood of further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. These figures contrast with official claims of a booming economy and pose challenges for political messaging ahead of the midterm elections.
