FlyDubai copilot accused of cockpit assault
A FlyDubai flight carrying Israeli passengers was nearly crashed after a co-pilot, identified as Hamam al-Hammami, attempted to seize control using an ax during the flight. The Omani national, previously barred from flying due to extremist concerns, used the weapon to attack the captain before passengers and crew subdued him, leading to an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Investigations led by the UAE, with U.S. and Western support, are examining his motives, but so far no links to militant groups have been found.
