A Chicago woman, Marimar Martinez, who was shot by a Border Patrol agent during an immigration crackdown last year, has filed a lawsuit against the federal government. The lawsuit alleges that the agent, Charles Exum, lied about the circumstances and fired multiple shots into her vehicle from behind, contrary to initial claims that she drove directly at him. Experts analyzing the case determined the agent's account was false, and the shooting occurred from behind her vehicle, with her sustaining seven gunshot wounds. The incident is part of broader concerns over use-of-force practices by federal agents during immigration enforcement actions.
