Judge halts Trump border fines
A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration's efforts to impose fines of up to $1.8 million on migrants who fail to leave the U.S. after final deportation orders. The judge ruled that the fines and the process used to impose them violated federal law and could financially ruin migrants already in economic hardship. The ruling was in response to a lawsuit by migrants challenging the legality of the fines and the administration's procedures.
