Young People Leaving LA for Surprising Spots
Recent demographic shifts in California reveal a divergence in migration patterns: older residents are leaving the state for destinations like Arizona, Nevada, and Texas, while younger residents are moving within California, particularly to the Bay Area and Fresno. Fresno has experienced an influx of young people seeking affordable housing and job opportunities amid the AI industry boom, with the city’s average age dropping to 31. Despite increased demand and rising housing costs, Fresno remains attractive due to its affordability and central location, although concerns about political and social changes persist. Overall, California continues to see net domestic out-migration, with more residents leaving than arriving, especially in Los Angeles.
