LAUSD parents request police as Franklin High mourns student
The article reports on community concerns following the death of a 17-year-old student at Franklin High School, who fell from a fourth-floor railing and was later identified as having died by suicide. Parents and advocates are calling for increased police presence on campuses due to safety and bullying concerns, especially after a recent attack and the student's death. The incident has reignited debate over school policing, which was cut in 2020, with some arguing that increased security and police are necessary for student safety, while others emphasize mental health support and restorative practices.
