Christa Pike walks after failed US execution
Christa Pike survived a botched execution attempt in Tennessee after two lethal injections, with her legal team reporting she is now walking and in a moderately stable physical and mental state. The incident, which occurred last month, is unprecedented as she is believed to be the only person to survive an execution by lethal injection. The case has prompted a court to order evidence preservation and has led to calls for the state to reconsider Pike’s death sentence, with some officials suggesting alternative methods of execution.
