Campus celebrations face rising gun violence
The article discusses the rise of gun violence at school events, particularly football games and homecoming celebrations, highlighting incidents on both college and K-12 campuses. It notes that since 2008, there have been at least 86 shootings related to these events, resulting in 30 deaths and 149 injuries, with a significant increase in recent years. Experts emphasize that such violence often stems from community conflicts and social issues, especially at HBCUs, rather than the events themselves, and advocate for policies addressing root causes and better security measures to prevent future incidents.
