Gold prospectors killed at Egypt-Sudan border
At least 72 civilians prospecting for gold in Sudan's River Nile state were killed in air strikes, according to a rights group. The attacks targeted artisanal mining sites, with aircraft firing missiles that destroyed camps and excavation pits. The incident highlights tensions along the Egypt-Sudan border, where gold mining activities are linked to smuggling and conflict, and raises concerns about violations of international law.
