Long Beach Endures Damage from Climate Events
The article reports on the ongoing damage to Long Beach’s historic boardwalk caused by a series of storms since September, including hurricanes and tropical storms. The storms have led to further collapse of the boardwalk and damage to coastal homes, with some buildings deemed unsafe. The city is actively working on emergency repairs using sandbags and reinforcing structures, while planning permanent fixes costing up to several million dollars to improve coastal resilience against future storms driven by climate change.
