State Declares Human-Robot Match Illegal
A human fighter competed against three remotely operated humanoid robots in a cage match held in San Francisco, which gained significant online attention. The event, organized by REK, was billed as the first human versus robot fight but was later deemed illegal by the California State Athletic Commission, which issued a cease-and-desist order for unlicensed combat events. The organizer argued the law did not apply because the event involved machines, not humans, and plans for future similar events are uncertain due to legal challenges.
