Death of rider raises ride safety concerns
A man was fatally ejected from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, prompting an investigation into ride safety. The incident involved Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, a 42-year-old, who was thrown from his seat, struck other patrons, and landed below the ride. The coaster, known for its 200-foot drop and speeds up to 70 mph, has been in operation for two decades. Authorities from Georgia are reviewing the incident, while the amusement industry adheres to safety standards set by ASTM, with some calling for increased federal regulation due to inconsistent state oversight.
