Retired US generals urge Pentagon to halt livestream execution
A group of 72 retired US military leaders have urged the government to cancel plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist responsible for the Fort Hood shooting. They argue that broadcasting the execution would violate constitutional protections against cruel and unusual punishment and turn the event into a spectacle, potentially turning Hasan into a martyr. While President Trump has expressed support for the livestream, a final decision has not been made, and the plan has faced widespread criticism from politicians, legal experts, and religious leaders.
