Factory supporting women workers named top new building
A textile factory in Bangladesh, Green Field Factory in Rangpur, has won the RIBA International Prize for its design that emphasizes greenery and employee well-being. The seven-story facility, opened in 2017, features landscaped gardens, communal amenities, and a shared entrance, reflecting a focus on community and worker empowerment. The project aims to challenge traditional factory hierarchies and improve conditions for the approximately 5,000 mostly female employees.
