He risks arrest painting illegal crosswalks in L.A
A group of volunteers, led by UCLA law student Jonathan Hale, has been illegally painting crosswalks at dangerous intersections in Los Angeles to improve pedestrian safety amid rising traffic deaths. Hale's efforts, part of his campaign called People’s Vision Zero, respond to perceived inaction by city authorities despite the city's claim of maintaining or adding over 1,000 crosswalks annually. Hale has been arrested for these activities, which he considers necessary due to the city's failure to prioritize street safety, but his case was dismissed, and he continues to advocate for the legalization of community-driven crosswalk improvements.
