Trump lifts Russia sanctions ahead of time
US President Donald Trump has issued a waiver to relax sanctions related to Russian fossil fuel sales, just days before they were set to take effect under a law he signed last month. This move comes amid increasing tensions with Ukrainian President Zelensky and concerns among US and European allies about support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia. The waiver was justified by Trump as being in the national interest, despite criticism that it defies legislation aimed at restricting Russian income used to fund its war.
