California Candidate Pledges to Remove All Encampments
Steve Hilton, a Republican candidate for California governor, announced a plan to eliminate all homeless encampments in the state by the end of next year. The plan involves establishing Homeless Recovery Centers to provide comprehensive services and aid in transitioning individuals into stable housing. Hilton aims to set deadlines for local governments to clear encampments by Labor Day 2027, with the state prepared to step in if necessary.
