Veteran actress questions Nithya Raman's remarks
A Hollywood actress and local resident has called for an apology from Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman after she praised the controversial policies of former LAPD Chief Daryl Gates, particularly referencing his stance on immigration enforcement during a debate. The actress, Anne-Marie Johnson, criticized Raman for making comments that invoked Gates’ tenure, which is associated with police brutality and the Rodney King riots, and demanded an apology, highlighting her personal and community-related connections to the issue.
