Florida fisherman, 71, fatally attacked by large alligator
A 71-year-old man was killed by a nearly 12-foot alligator while fishing at Lake Apopka in Florida, marking the second fatal attack in the state this year. The alligator was trapped and killed after the incident, which occurred near shore, and emergency rescue efforts were hindered by other alligators in the water. Florida wildlife officials confirmed that since 1948, 34 people have been killed by alligators in the state.
