Medford Schools Under Review Over Teacher Checks
Medford Public Schools hired Michael Dampier to teach high school music, unaware of his past allegations of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student in Florida. Despite available public records and media coverage, school officials did not fully vet his background, leading to his removal after an anonymous tip and an investigation. Dampier's criminal history, name changes, and lack of proper licensing raise concerns about thorough background checks in educator hiring practices.
