The University of San Francisco will retire its 92-year-old “The Don” mascot at the start of the spring 2027 semester and introduce a wolf, while keeping the Dons nickname. The change follows student criticism that the mascot’s colonial-era imagery represented the exploitation of Indigenous people. The university will consult students and staff on the wolf’s final design.
