Nineteen-year-old Democrat Daniel Darris-O’Connor defeated eight-term Republican state Rep. Marc Lombardo in Massachusetts’ 22nd Middlesex District, leading by 438 votes among more than 17,000 ballots counted. Darris-O’Connor, who previously won a seat on Billerica’s select board, said his campaign focused on affordability and rising costs.
