El Cerrito High canceled the rest of its football season after a month-long police investigation into allegations of hazing and sexual assault involving at least 22 players between September 2024 and October 2026. Police said video evidence corroborated the allegations, which are under investigation; the school district is also conducting a Title IX inquiry. The 6-3 team will miss the playoffs, and head coach Tim Johnson remains on leave.
