Hiroshima commemorates the anniversary of its nuclear bombing on August 6, 1945, and calls on world leaders to abolish nuclear weapons amid escalating international tensions. The city’s mayor expressed regret over the use of nuclear weapons as tools of intimidation and warned of the risks associated with the use of force in military conflicts, which could lead to new tragedies. This call comes in the wake of the failure of the recent Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty conference and the intensification of global conflicts, emphasizing the urgent need for international solidarity in nuclear disarmament.
