Bahrain misses Wednesday solar eclipse
The article discusses the upcoming total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, which will be visible over large areas of Europe and East Asia, especially northern Russia and Scandinavia. During this event, a total eclipse of the sun will last up to two minutes and 18 seconds, with a width reaching 290 kilometers. Other regions will experience a partial eclipse with varying degrees of visibility. Astrophysicist Mohammed Al-Asfour explained that Bahrain and the Gulf countries are outside the path of the eclipse and will not be able to see it directly, but partial views are expected in parts of North Africa and some areas of Europe. The event will also coincide with the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, which can produce between 50 and 100 shooting stars per hour. However, observations in Bahrain may be affected by humidity and light pollution. Experts warned of the dangers of looking directly at the sun during the eclipse without proper protection, emphasizing the importance of using special eclipse glasses for safety.
