U.S. Official: Trump May Extend Iran Tension Pause
U.S. officials have reported that the Trump administration is considering the possibility of extending the ceasefire with Iran if opening the Strait of Hormuz facilitates the movement of global energy supplies. This comes after Iranian nuclear sites were targeted and destroyed last year, along with reports of military and economic maneuvers exerting pressure on Tehran. The officials emphasized that the United States is currently focused on protecting navigation through the strait, despite Iran's conditions for reopening the vital passage, which include the lifting of sanctions and the withdrawal of American forces from the region. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world's most critical oil routes, and both sides are aiming to reach an agreement that ensures the resumption of oil flows and reduces military escalation.
