Trump assigns superintelligence to Director of Intelligence

The Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. President Donald Trump appointed an official to lead a new team within the National Intelligence that specializes in artificial intelligence issues. The purpose of this team is to prepare a report within 120 days regarding the risks and opportunities associated with the technology. The team's goal is to ensure that the United States remains at the forefront of AI development while safeguarding its interests, revisiting reporting mechanisms for violations, and strengthening federal response capabilities. This appointment is part of Trump's efforts to develop a national-level strategy within the administration for artificial intelligence, focusing on balancing technological advancement with potential risks—especially as international concerns about losing control over these technologies are growing.
