Bahrain Streets Need Review

The article discusses the necessity of updating and developing the traffic signs and signals system in the streets of Bahrain to enhance road safety. It emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive review of the traffic network to account for urban growth, increased traffic flow, and changing land uses, with a particular focus on pedestrian safety, especially near schools and markets. The article describes the efforts of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects in studying the affected areas in terms of sign visibility and implementing development projects that include sidewalks, traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, and safety barriers, all aimed at improving traffic management and reducing road accidents. It stresses that the challenge is not only in increasing the number of signs but also in ensuring their alignment with the movement of people and vehicles—especially in inner neighborhoods and old city districts—to promote the safety of all road users.
