Tennis player Coco Gauff chose to turn off her phone and stay away from messages after facing racist abuse during the China Tennis Open, a step that reflects the psychological pressures players endure off the court. Gauff also confirmed that the past days had been exhausting before she exited the tournament in the Round of 16 after losing to Belgian Elise Mertens with scores of 6-3 and 6-3.
