Nigeria reports Ebola case in Abuja
The first case of Ebola virus infection has been officially announced in Nigeria, after laboratory tests confirmed a woman who had traveled to and transited through Uganda before arriving in Abuja. The woman is now in isolation and receiving care, with 44 of her contacts identified to contain the spread. This comes after an outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that began in May, caused by a rare strain, and regional health authorities are continuing their efforts to prevent the virus from spreading.
