The painting "Woman from Palawan" by artist Juan Luna, currently exhibited at the Louvre Abu Dhabi until June 28, sheds light on Filipino identity and cultural history during Spanish colonization. The image, which depicts a Filipino woman in traditional attire with a contemplative gaze, reflects pride and dignity. It is a courageous portrayal of a woman from the common people rather than the European elite, thereby reinforcing the concept of national identity under colonization. The exhibition highlights the collaboration between the museum and the Philippines, expanding visitors' understanding of Filipino cultural heritage.
