Egypt Microfinance 2026 Women Hold 40.66B EGP
By the end of June 2026, women continued to dominate a significant share of microfinance in Egypt, with their balances totaling approximately 40.66 billion Egyptian pounds, accounting for about 54.65% of the total outstanding balances. This occurred despite a decline of around 90,000 beneficiaries, bringing the total to 1.80 million women benefactors. Although the total lending amount increased by 16.1% during the year—from 64.1 billion to 74.4 billion pounds—the overall number of recipients slightly decreased from 3.5 million to 3.4 million. Meanwhile, loans allocated to men grew by approximately 4.36 billion pounds. These figures demonstrate growth in the volume of financing alongside the continued focus on women in the market.
