Police 47's viral social media moment
A spontaneous performance of Dembo music by Dominican singer Polín 47 in Spain went viral widely on social media, causing a global trending wave. The clip began when content creator Kevin Way shared a musical challenge with him, during which Polín 47 delivered an improvised, energetic snippet in just a few seconds, accompanied by a dance move. This led to the video surpassing 65 million views on Instagram and 50 million on TikTok, turning it into a phenomenon featuring edited versions created with AI that show sports stars and public figures—such as Messi, Ronaldo, and Haaland—dancing to the music. Polín 47 responded to the viral success with gratitude, and the AI-edited versions helped expand the trend to include Arab personalities and meme characters, achieving an unexpected spread for a simple, spontaneous moment.
