Dakahlia Aunt Killer Case Sent to Mufti
The Mansoura Criminal Court has anew referred the case of the aunt's murderer, Hajja Magda Mohamed Salem, to the Grand Mufti for consideration of the death penalty. The case involves premeditated murder with the intent to seize her gold jewelry. The incident occurred on June 13, 2025, in the Minya Al Nasr Center of Daqahliya Governorate, where police found the victim's body bound and wrapped inside a plastic sack on a canal bridge. Investigations confirmed that her nephew was the suspect, who confessed to committing the crime due to financial hardship. The court is expected to issue its decision in November after obtaining the religious opinion from the Mufti, emphasizing that referral to the Mufti is a consultative procedure and does not constitute an final death sentence.
