Abtahal Abdul Wahab on Nobel Celebrations and Enlightenment Pioneers
The article discusses the importance of celebrating scientific and intellectual contributions, emphasizing that Nobel Prizes highlight the role of the human mind in expanding knowledge and achieving progress. It sheds light on the challenges faced by societies in valuing the significance of intellect and scientific research, especially amid the decline of critical education and the undervaluing of women's roles in history—particularly pioneering women of the Enlightenment. The article calls for reforms in educational, media, and institutional structures to promote freedom of thought and inquiry, correct misconceptions, and achieve a balance between the material consumption of modernity and recognition of its intellectual values. It underscores the necessity of moving from asking "Who said this?" to "What is the evidence?" and investing in educating a generation that possesses the courage to question and innovate—contributing to building a enlightened future—rather than resisting questions that drive progress.
