Rania Youssef Reflects on Slip Dress and Advice
Actress Rania Youssef reignited the controversy surrounding her famous dress she wore at the closing ceremony of the Cairo Film Festival in 2018, which drew widespread criticism over the transparency she appeared with. She explained that social media contributed to prolonging the discussion about this incident and that it was a result of her poor personal judgment. She also stated that her daughter was the one who decided to wear the same dress despite being young at the time, and there was no inappropriate exposure of her body. She confirmed that some colleagues wore the same dress and faced criticism from people who considered them daring, while others defended them. She pointed out that the incident led society to change its outlook significantly, and she does not wish to see such scenes repeated today. She also mentioned that some people attacked her harshly, while some fellow artists supported her, including Ilham Shaheen and Adel Imam, who called her to reassure her about her dress and beauty. They considered that the issue was too minor to cause such a fuss. Currently, Rania Youssef is participating in the Ramadan 2027 season with the series "Sultan Elyab," which features a star-studded cast. She expressed her ongoing connection with society and feels that people's perspectives on past matters have shifted.
