Lebanon Faces Implementation Challenge
Lebanon has begun implementing the framework agreement signed in Washington with Israel, whereby the Lebanese army is responsible for deploying in areas from which Israeli forces are expected to withdraw, in order to bolster Lebanese sovereignty. President Aoun and the Army Commander affirmed that the military institution will continue its efforts to maintain security and stability. Simultaneously, international efforts continue to support the army both logistically and technically. This development coincides with Israel's calls reaffirming its commitment to maintaining presence in southern Lebanon to confront Hezbollah threats, while the United States continues to impose financial sanctions on Hezbollah-affiliated institutions to weaken its sources of funding.
