Chipotle reports 2.2% sales rise and $1.3B buyback
Chipotle Mexican Grill raised its restaurant sales forecast for the 2026 fiscal year after reporting a 2.2% increase in quarterly sales. Adjusted profits exceeded expectations at 33 cents per share, compared to the forecast of 32 cents. The company also announced a plan to buy back $1.3 billion worth of shares, which led to a roughly 3% rise in its stock during extended trading. This positive performance was supported by increased demand for new menu items and special offers, as well as responses to rising costs through modest price increases.
