Firefighting planes deploy against Greece forest fire
Greece is facing widespread wildfires in the Athens and Voiotia regions, which have continued for a second week and have scorched more than 12,000 hectares of land, due to the climate crisis. After a decrease in wind intensity, nine firefighting aircraft were deployed to assist around 450 firefighters, although the risk level remains very high in some areas. The fires have resulted in the death of five people, including firefighters, and additional villages near Kandiili have been evacuated. Authorities continue their firefighting efforts amid reports of a potential cause: an electrical cable.
