Glencore's energy trading gains surge

Glencore achieved record profits from energy trading in the first half of 2026, amounting to $2.66 billion—66 times higher than the same period last year—due to market disruptions caused by the Iran war, which led to soaring oil and gas prices, with trading volumes exceeding 5.2 million barrels per day, a 24% increase over the previous year. This contributed to a 3.4% rise in the company's shares.
