Trump issues orders to limit birthright citizenship
U.S. President Donald Trump issued two executive orders aimed at attempting to restrict the right to birthright citizenship in the United States. These orders target children of foreign government employees, individuals classified as "foreign enemies," and those crossing the border to obtain U.S. citizenship through "birth tourism." Although the orders outline policies, they are not legally binding, and they were previously rejected by the Supreme Court in 2022, which affirmed that the Fourteenth Amendment has granted automatic U.S. citizenship to children born in the country since 1868.
