Giant Joy with 25000 HP aircraft for non-existent war

The story of the Soviet Mil V-12 helicopter confirms that it is the largest helicopter in aviation history in terms of size. It weighed approximately 105 tons and measured about 37 meters in length, with a height of 12.5 meters between its twin engines. Designed to transport heavy loads and missiles to remote areas, especially during the Cold War, the helicopter was developed in the 1960s to meet the military need for moving massive equipment in regions with poor infrastructure. It relied on a system of two gigantic rotors and four engines with a combined power of around 25,640 horsepower. The V-12 achieved a record payload of 40.2 tons at an altitude of 2,255 meters, placing it among the loudest helicopters in aviation history. Despite successful testing, the Soviet government ceased its development in 1974 due to a decline in military requirements and a shift towards more practical solutions like the Mil Mi-26 helicopter, which was smaller and more economical. Only two units of this colossal helicopter were produced, but it remained a symbol of Soviet aviation ambitions. It demonstrated its unique capabilities in performing tasks that had previously been limited to large ground transportation methods, making it one of the most notable engineering achievements in vertical flight.
