A glacier collapse in Nepal's Tibet region caused disastrous floods that resulted in the death of 741 people and approximately 3,000 individuals missing. Massive amounts of rocks and mud flooded through the mountain rivers, destroying buildings, bridges, and power stations. The government needs external aid valued at $4 to $5 billion for reconstruction efforts. Search and rescue operations, which had been suspended due to bad weather, have resumed, and the number of casualties and missing persons is expected to rise.
